Inside Vogue: My Journey as an Intern at Vogue Australia
I came to study at National Fashion College (NFC), uncertain of how to channel my passion for fashion into a fulfilling career. While I knew I had an eye for creativity and a deep admiration for the industry, I wasn’t quite sure how to turn my aspirations into reality.
When I began my journey with NFC in May 2023, I was eager to discover where my creativity and drive could take me in this dynamic industry. When it came time to decide on my first internship, I chose VOGUE Australia.
This decision felt natural and aligned perfectly with my goals. VOGUE has long been synonymous with innovation, elegance, and excellence in fashion—a beacon for aspiring creatives like myself. I knew interning with such a prestigious and globally recognized brand would give me unparalleled exposure to the industry and help me refine my vision for the future.
As an intern at one of the world’s most iconic fashion magazines, I am fortunate to work on a variety of tasks that inspire and challenge me every single week. The dynamic nature of my role ensures that no two days are ever the same, keeping me engaged and motivated to learn.
One of the most exciting aspects of my internship is assisting with photoshoots for the magazine. Each shoot brings its own unique challenges and rewards, and being part of the creative process has been incredibly fulfilling. Whether it’s helping to prepare sets, organizing samples, or observing the artistry behind the camera, every moment feels like a masterclass in storytelling through fashion.
In addition to photoshoots, my role includes managing daily check-ins and check-outs, coordinating sample loans, and arranging returns. These tasks often involve trips to boutiques and showrooms, which are as enjoyable as they are insightful. These experiences have given me a firsthand look at the collaborative relationships between designers, brands, and the publication.
Beyond the professional growth, this internship has also been a deeply personal journey. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some of the most talented and inspiring individuals in the industry. Their guidance, creativity, and dedication have not only made me feel welcome but have also encouraged me to strive for excellence in everything I do. The sense of camaraderie within the team has been one of the most enjoyable aspects of my experience, and I truly admire the collaborative spirit that drives VOGUE Australia’s success.
Reflecting on my journey so far, I feel immense gratitude for the opportunities I’ve been given and the lessons I’ve learned. This internship has not only expanded my skill set but also given me clarity about the kind of impact I want to make in the fashion world.
